Opportunities

There are many different ways to engage with APAX, from coming along as a delegate, connecting with other first time attendees, participating in the Arts Market or the First Base program, attending the PAC Australia training intensives, and more.

We’re excited for delegates to experience all on offer in the tropical Top End and Darwin Festival – stay tuned for offers that we’ll announce here, as they become available.

First Timers

First time at APAX? Meet some friendly faces, grab a coffee and get some tips from experienced delegates who have been exactly where you are now during our First Timers gatherings.

There will be two moments during the APAX program for First Timers to connect: Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 August.

Advance registration is required for these sessions and will be available closer to the event.

First Base

If you’re new to touring, or are wanting to expand the reach of your work across Australia, arts markets can seem like both an incredible opportunity, but also a complete unknown. We know that presenters generally program work from artists and producers they already know. So – how do you become someone they know?

First Base is an opportunity for artists and producers who are starting their journey at arts markets, and are not in the arts market program, to meet with a presenter in a one-on-one session.

During this session, you can workshop your pitch with the presenter, and they’ll work with you to:

Identify what appeals to them as a presenter – what you need to really be pushing to get a presenter hooked.

What didn’t work for them in your pitch – what information is missing, what do presenters need to hear from you and how they would like to work with you.

Introduce you to five other presenters at APAX so you can start building those all-important relationships.

The First Base session is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday 12 August.

Applications will open in June.

If you have any questions about First Base please email admin@paca.org.au.

Arts Market

The Arts Market program is developed through an application process that runs in March-April each year. Find out more about the Arts Market.

Industry Development & Training Programs / Intensives

PAC Australia’s training programs support a peer learning experience, providing presenters and producers with opportunities to learn from existing organisations within the performing arts ecology and build an ongoing network to draw upon. Our programs are designed to provide a solid foundation for participants to develop their own style and processes within their field of work.

We offer:

  • Presenter Training Program (Australia + Aotearoa)
  • Presenter Development Program
  • Tour Producer Training Program

The training programs consist of a number of online sessions plus an in-person intensive training day.

In 2025 the in-person intensive training days for the following programs will be held on Monday 11 August in Garamilla/Darwin, just before APAX commences on Monday evening.

  • Presenter Development Program
  • Presenter Training Program (Course 1 & 2)
  • Tour Producer Training (Course 2)

Participation in these courses, including the intensive training day is by advance application only. Find out more about PAC Australia’s training opportunities and application details.
